Reflecting now on how hard and enjoyable this 3 residency was. Hard because we had alot of creative freedom which was confusing at times, enjoyable because we had a lot of creative freedom to experiment and test new things.
So many sensory stories from ears, noses and throats. I rememeber recording this patient so clearly.
“I know that this is gonna sound really weird, I know the texture of the air, of the smell. Do you understand what I’m trying to say? So I’ll know if grass has been cut. It may sound really stupid, doesn’t it? It’s like I can’t taste because of the nose, but I’ll know what I’m eating. It’s funny because I still crave the same things. But I know everyone does. I think fatty foods and sugar is addictive anyway, but I still kinda think “Oh, I’d love a McDonalds!”
Overall an honor, to capture stories from the staff and patients at these now long gone UCLH hospitals in London’s Kings X.
